The Call of Sustaining Grace
Jude 1:24-25
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
The Holy Spirit is able to keep you from stumbling — God’s grace is sufficient to keep you on this journey through life.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
The Holy Spirit will enable you to stand in the presence of God blameless and with great joy — God’s grace is sufficient to enable you to say no to any temptation and to live a life of holiness of heart and life joyfully before the Lord.
Psalms 51:10
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
The God who enables us to this holy life can be trusted — He is faithful, mighty in power and authority, and is the same throughout all time in His desire to make us into the people He desires for us to be.
Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
If we seek to apply the principles on this journey of grace, a journey of holiness of heart and life, what does that mean for us today?
It means that God’s sustaining enabling grace will keep us provided that we do our part in response to what He has already done for us.
When it comes to living a holy life, God has done and continues to do His part in terms of what He has done for us through the cross and through the giving of His Spirit to us, and in response we have to do our part, which means…
We must walk in total obedience.
John 14:15
“If you love me, keep my commands.
We must live in constant communion.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
pray without ceasing;
We must seek to reflect Jesus in our heart (attitude, thoughts, and feelings) and in our everyday life (actions).
Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Jude 1:24-25
